In men, consumption of 1-3 servings of kimchi per day was associated with a lower prevalence of obesity. In addition, men who consumed the most kimchi baechu (cabbage kimchi) were 10 per cent less likely to have abdominal obesity. Participants who consumed white radish kimchi were 8 per cent less likely in men and 11 per cent less likely in women.

However, the authors note that since all results showed a J-shaped relationship, it is recommended to limit excessive kimchi consumption.
